The volunteer service team of Beijing Western Returned Scholars Association visited the secretariat office of ZGC Global High-Level Think Tank Alliance for exchange and discussion

At the discussion

On October 29th, Xie Haishan, director and consultant of the volunteer service team of Beijing Western Returned Scholars Association (hereinafter referred to as the Western Returned Scholars Association), chairman of the Beijing Xingguang Social Work Service Center, and secretary general of the Western Returned Scholars Association of Beijing Fengtai District,  led a team to the secretariat office of ZGC Global High-Level Think Tank Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the Think Tank Alliance). They had a symposium for in-depth exchanges and discussions with Li Junkai, director of the Center for International and Regional Cooperation of Beijing Academy of Science and Technology, and others.

At the symposium, Xie Haishan presented the basic overview, business practices and the nature of the Western Returned Scholars Association. As a non-governmental organization that brings together returnees from overseas study, the Western Returned Scholars Association has rich practical experience in promoting cultural exchanges, educational cooperation, technological innovation, etc., and it has successfully built a series of international exchange platforms. Xie Haishan emphasized that the role of non-governmental organizations is indispensable as a bridge in international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation. He also expressed his strong willingness to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Think Tank Alliances in science and technology, and expected that the two sides will work together to open a new chapter of cooperation. During the discussion, Liang Xia, head of the academic research group of the volunteer service team of the Western Returned Scholars Association and head of the Zhizhi Research Institute, and Pei Yanrong, the backbone of the volunteer service team of the Western Returned Scholars Association and a research fellow at the Institute of Semiconductors of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, also shared and exchanged views on the topics such as academic research and technology integration.

Li Junkai extended a warm welcome to Xie Haishan and his entourage. She highly appreciated the efforts made by the Western Returned Scholars Association in promoting international exchanges. Li Junkai pointed out that: the Think Tank Alliance has been committed to gathering global wisdom to provide scientific basis and strategic advice for government decision-making and industrial upgrading; the cooperation with the Western Returned Scholars Association will greatly enrich the intellectual resources of the Think Tank Alliance and broaden its international vision. She stressed that the two sides should make full use of their respective advantages for seeking to establish long-term cooperation mechanisms in key areas such as scientific and technological innovation, talent fostering, and policy research, so as to jointly contribute to the promotion of technological innovation and development in Beijing and even the whole country.

The symposium not only deepened the mutual understanding between the Think Tank Alliance and the Western Returned Scholars Association, but also laid a solid foundation for their in-depth cooperation in the future.
